Story :

Starring Mel Gibson, We Were Soldiers is an epic war film focusing on the Vietnam War, arguably the most harrowing armed conflict of the 20th century. The film is based on the true story of 450 American soldiers who join the war in its earliest stages, and arrive in Vietnam to find themselves completely surrounded by around 2,000 North Vietnamese in the Ia Drang Valley. This situation escalates into the first substantial conflict of the war, and as such, proves to be strategically important and emotionally tone-setting. The story is told through the eyes of Lt. Colonel Harold Moore (Gibson), who was commander of the 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry, and Joseph Galloway, a reporter who has conflicting opinions of the war, and deals with patriotic loyalty, love and what it means to be a soldier.
