Story :

Sorn (Ananda Everingham), a multiracial photographer, is assigned by his editor to take a picture of Laos, where he’s reluctant to go. Even though, Sorn is half-Laotian, going back to his homeland is never in his mind. Sorn arrives at Pak-Cher town where he hires a guide, Noi (Khamlek Pallawong) to take him out to the best picture spot in Laos. They go from LeePee waterfall, Korn-Papeang , all the way to See-Pun hill, which is branch island of the Mae Khong River. Unfortunately, it’s Noi’s first time being a tour guide. She keeps taking them to the wrong direction. They have to ride and cruise uneasily everywhere. As a result, Sorn have to go back to his childhood home. By the time he gets there, Sorn finds out that his distance family for over 10 years still remembers him and welcomes him with open arms. Sorn gradually see Laos as his own home.

At the same time, Sorn develops a crush with Noi. He then treats her like a princess. However, Realizing that Sorn is crossing the line, Noi try to avoids seeing Sorn as much as possible. Sorn discovers his own Laotian root and wants to prove to Noi that he’s not seeing her as only an one-night stand.

สอน (อนันดา เอเวอร์ริ่งแฮม) ช่างภาพหนุ่มลูกครึ่ง ถูกบก. ส่งไปถ่ายรูปที่ประเทศลาว โดยที่เขาไม่ค่อยเต็มใจนัก เพราะถึงแม้ตัวเขาจะมีเชื้อสายคนลาวอยู่ด้วย แต่ก็ไม่มีข้อมูลหรือเคยไปเมืองลาวเลยสักครั้ง

สอนมาถึงเมืองปากเซ เขาว่าจ้างไก๊ด์ชื่อน้อย (คำลี่ พิลาวง) พาเดินทางถ่ายรูปในแถบลาวใต้ ไปน้ำตกหลี่ผี , คอนพะเพ็ง เลยไปถึงสี่พันดอนที่เป็นเกาะแก่งในแม่น้ำโขง แต่ว่าไก๊ด์สาวเพิ่งทำงานเป็นครั้งแรก จึงพาหลงทางไปตลอด พวกเขาต้องต่อรถ ลงเรือ ไปที่ต่างๆ อย่างทุลักทุเล และสอนก็ต้องจำใจไปบ้านเก่าของพ่อตามที่สั่งไว้ แต่สอนกลับพบว่าญาติพี่น้องที่ห่างกันเป็นสิบปีต่างจำเขาได้ และให้การต้อนรับอย่างอบอุ่นจนสอนเริ่มมองภาพเมืองลาวว่าเป็นบ้านอีกที่หนึ่งของตน

สอนรู้สึกชอบพอกับน้อย เขาจึงทำดีกับเธอ แต่ทว่าเมื่อมีความสนิทสนมเกินเลย ระหว่างลูกทัวร์กับไก๊ด์ น้อยกลับไปฝ่ายถอยห่างและหลบหน้าเขาไป สอนค้นหารากเหง้าความเป็นคนลาวของตัวเอง และต้องหาทางพิสูจน์ให้น้อยเชื่อว่าเขาไม่ใช่นักท่องเที่ยวที่มาสร้างความรักเพียงชั่วคราว และทิ้งเธอไปที่อื่น

a Lao-Thai co-production?????

I'd heard about this film - that it was being billed as a Lao-Thai co-production. And, I wanted to give it to a Laotian-American coworker for a holiday present. Problem? She speaks only Lao and English - and neither language is represented by voice or subtitle in the film. PAL is not an issue since she has an all-region DVD player. But language IS an issue. How can this truly be called a co-production when the Lao language is dismissed entirely? Watching a film shot in Laos is small compensation to a Laotian person who doesn't speak Thai.

So happy to see a movie filmed in Laos...

My family is from Laos as well, but like many people in there generation, they reluctant to admit their Lao identity...
But I'm so proud to be Lao after I visit my hometown in Pakse with my family...

A must see Movie!!!!! This movie brought back memories especially the opening song. I admit, it brought tear to my eyes!

This is a refreshing movie to see and it does not have any sexual content in it!! It's Soo Lao. LOL....

Alee did a great job in portraying Lao's Culture and Laos' women when it comes to talking and mannerism.

Hopefully there will be part 2 to this movie!

excellent film....really enjoyed it at the cinema....THE CINEMA HAD SUBTITLES IN ENGLIGH....

DISAPPOINTED THE DVD HASNT GOT SUBS IN FARANG
