Story :

The life of the nineteenth king of Goguryeo. Hwanwoong (Bae Yong Joon) was sent from the heavens to make the world a better place. He fell in love with Saeoh (Lee Ji Ah) and they had a son. Kaijin (Moon So Ri) was jealous and she took the baby, throwing him off a cliff, leading to Saeoh going out of control and turning into the black joojak (dark phoenix) to destroy the world. Hwanwoong had to use his heavenly bow to stop her. Many centuries later, the reincarnation of Hwanwoong, Damdeok (Bae Yong Joon), the king of Goguryeo, was born. Along with him, the artifacts of the guardians of the King were born.

ละครประวัติศาสตร์ของกษัตริย์คนที่สิบเก้าของราชวงศ์โคคูเรียว หวังวูงที่ถูกส่งมาจากสวรรค์เพื่อมาอยู่บนโลกมนุษย์เพื่อจะช่วยให้โลกดีขึ้น เขากลับไปตกหลุมรักกับแซโอและเขาได้ให้สร้อยคอจูแจกกับเธอไว้ แต่คาจินเกิดอิจฉาขึ้นมาเพราะว่าแซโอตั้งครรภ์กับหวังวูงและคลอดมาเป็นลูกชาย คาจินจึงได้ขโมยลูกของแซโอไป แล้วก็นำเด็กคนนั้นไปโยนทิ้งที่หน้าผา แซโอคิดว่าลูกชายของเธอได้จากไปเสียแล้ว เธอจึงได้แต่เศร้าโศกเสียใจ เธอจึงไม่สนใจกับสายใยรักที่เป็นสร้อยที่ได้มาอีกต่อไป และได้เริ่มพยายามทำลายล้างโลก หวังวูนเป็นเพียงคนเดียวที่จะสามารถหยุดยั้งเธอไว้ได้

ต่อมาหวังวูงจึงกลับไปสวรรค์และได้พูดว่าอีกสองพันปีต่อมาจะมีกษัตริย์จูชินที่จะมาบนโลกมนุษย์และจะมีเทพเจ้าอีกสี่องค์ที่จะช่วยเขาสร้างกษัตริย์ที่ยิ่งใหญ่จูชิน
