Story :

Based on writer/director Tony Ayres' own life, this is an epic tale of mothers, sons, daughters, unrequited love, betrayals, and secrets. In 1964, Rose Hong (Joan Chen), a Shanghai nightclub singer, marries and migrates to Victoria with her two kids, Tom (Joel Lok) and May (Irene Chen). Rose falls in love with Joe (Qi Yu-Wu), who is several years younger than her. But Joe feels the strain of this relationship and finds that he has more in common with May... How will the conflict be settled?

โรส นักร้องประจำไนต์คลับที่ฮ่องกง หอบเมย์และทอม ลูกสาวและลูกชายของเธอมาอยู่ที่ออสเตรเลียพร้อมกับบิล ทหารเรือหนุ่มโสด แต่หลังมาถึงออสเตรเลียได้ไม่นาน โรสตัดสินใจทิ้งบิลไปเพื่อเริ่มต้นชีวิตใหม่ แต่ชีวิตไม่ได้สวยหรูอย่างที่เธอคิด โรสเปลี่ยนผู้ชายไม่เลือกหน้า ทำให้ลูกทั้งสองคนต้องย้ายบ้านอยู่เป็นประจำจนไร้เพื่อน แต่เมื่อโรสได้พบโจ พ่อครัวหนุ่มรุ่นน้อง เธอจึงคิดสร้างครอบครัวใหม่ แต่แล้ว โจกับเมย์กลับสนใจกัน ทำให้โรสด่าทอเมย์จนเมย์ฆ่าตัวตาย แม้เมื่อทุกอย่างกลับเข้าที่ สามแม่ลูกเริ่มต้นชีวิตใหม่อีกครั้ง แต่โรสยังคงสร้างปัญหาให้กับลูกๆ จนถึงจุดแตกหักในชีวิตของทั้งสาม
